The Sandfly Film Festival showcases the best short films from around the world. Sandfly presents short films focusing on compelling storytelling and the craft of filmmaking, without the limitations of specific genres or gimmicks.

Sandfly believes in a diverse mix includes established award winners and cutting-edge new comers, dramas, thrillers, documentaries, comedies, animations and music videos.

In 2015, Sandfly is curating and hosting the inaugural Sydney Architrecture Festival Shorts. A night of short films at the Goods Line Amphitheatre in Ultimo, Sydney. #thegoods

Sandfly has a strong reputation for discovering smash hits. Before it became internationally renowned and a MTV Award Winner, Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know directed by Natasha Pincus won the Best Music Video Category at Sandfly. In 2013 two of our selected films had their Australian Premiers at Sandfly and went on to feature at the Academy Awards: Aquel No Era Yo was nominated for Best Live Action Short and Mr. Hublot took out the Oscar for Best Animated Short.
