The Sandfly Film Festival showcases and promotes local, national and international short films and music videos. From award winning works to cutting-edge new comers, from tear-jerkers to rip-snorters, thrillers, classics and indies, the Sandfly presents films with bite!

The festival is based out of picturesque Jervis Bay, approximately 180 km south of Sydney and about 200 km north east of Canberra. Screenings take place at the historic Huskisson Picture Theatre, in the town of Huskisson where movies have been screened since the early 50’s.

The festival’s founders, Marshmallow* Productions, are sick of the lack of networking possibilities for filmmakers at festivals, SandFlyFF is not only creating a forum for filmmakers to show their films but also to share their experience of filmmaking with the audience and other filmmakers aiming to create a lasting and active network of film artists.

Sandfly is currently taking entries to the 2nd annual Sandfly Film Festival being held in beautiful Jervis Bay NSW in November of this year.

In 2011, we are running four categories – Australian short films, international short films, music videos and films local to the South Coast of NSW.

We had a very successful festival last year, and are looking forward to building on that experience to make Sandfly 2011 bigger and better. Prizes and judges will be announced shortly.

“A very exciting and refreshing mix of selected short films and music
videos. One of the few festivals with its’ heart in the right place.”

Byron Quandary, winner Best Film at Sandfly 2010

“Sandfly is a great addition to the cultural landscape in Jervis Bay. I thoroughly enjoyed the movies and the music in between.”
Robyn Williams, museum curator Lady Denman Museum Huskisson NSW
